Did you know?

Meth is known by many street names. Epod, crank, crystal, crystal meth, chalk, amp, candy, crystal light, gas, go fast, ice cream, Pepsi, Pepsi One, powder, rock, space food, speed, tweak, zoon and ice, just to name a few.
Meth can be swallowed, snorted, smoked or injected.
Drug paraphernalia like razor blades, straws, burned spoons, tinfoil, syringes and glass pipes are commonly found on or around people who use meth.
Meth addicts have a certain look and frequently behave in strange ways.
If you know the warning signs of meth use, you may save your own life or the life of someone you love.

Physical Impact

Methamphetamine use increases energy and alertness and decreases appetite. An intense rush is felt, almost instantaneously, when a user smokes or injects methamphetamine. Snorting methamphetamine affects the user in approximately 5 minutes, whereas oral ingestion takes about 20 minutes for the user to feel the effects.

Consequences

Chronic methamphetamine abuse can result in inflammation of the heart lining and, for injecting drug users, damaged blood vessels and skin abscesses. Social and occupational connections progressively deteriorate for chronic methamphetamine users. Acute lead poisoning is another potential risk for methamphetamine abusers because of a common method of production that uses lead acetate as a reagent.
